The Tootie Fruitie Protein Smoothie:
Yields: 2 Servings
1/2 Cup of frozen wild blueberries 1 fresh mango sliced 1/2 Cup frozen strawberries 1 5.3oz container of fat free Oikos vanilla greek yogurt 2 scoops vanilla whey protein powder 1 tsp flaxseed oil Handful of spinach 1 cup of ice
Place all ingredients in Vitamix Blender on variable speed 1, bring up to variable speed 10 quickly and blend until fully blended and smooth. Add water if needed for desired consistency.
Chicken Potato Spinach Soup
NOTE! The Vitamix is manufactured with the ability to heat and to withstand hot temperatures. Do not attempt to make this hot food recipe in other blenders or appliances not intended for that purpose!
1 cup (240 ml) low sodium chicken, beef, or vegetable stock
1 1/2 cups (360 ml) skim milk
1/2 (35 g) small onion, peeled
3 (519 g) medium potatoes, baked or boiled, with skin (reserve 1 potato)
1/8 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 tablespoon spinach, cooked or frozen
5 ounces (140 g) chicken breast, skinned and boned, cooked and cut up
salt to taste
1. Place broth, skim milk, onion, two potatoes, and rosemary into the Vitamix container and secure lid. 2. Select Variable 1. 3. Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High. 4. Blend for 4-5 minutes or until heavy steam escapes from the vented lid. 5. Reduce speed to Variable 3 and remove the lid plug. 6. Add spinach and reserved potato through the lid plug opening and blend until potato is chopped, about 15 seconds. 7. Drop in chicken and blend for an additional 5 seconds.
* Variation: Use vegetable bouillon cubes, and omit chicken and chicken bouillon to make this recipe suitable for vegetarian diets.
